HMPYOI Feltham

Building on our work in HMPYOI Feltham over the last five years, we're pleased to be launching a new Creative Arts Course that will run throughout 2023/24. 

We'll work with a group of ten young adults each month covering painting, printing, mixed media, portraits, perspectives, poetry and more. Our aim is to improve wellbeing and confidence through creativity and teach skills that can be used and built upon after the course. 

We look forward to welcoming guest artists and speakers including Lady Unchained, Jerelle Forbes and Moyma and sharing the work created to improve the prison environment and explore opportunities to share it with the wider community. We hope to extend the programme onto the residential wings, pending funding, which means the young adults can take on creative leadership for their own wings. 

The programme will offer creative activity that has been proven to positively impact wellbeing and for some a return to Education may facilitate access to other learning and employment pathways. We'll provide a safe creative space for expression and reflection that centres the individual as the expert in their own life. Our approach supports rehabilitation through positively influencing personal development, how a person sees themselves and what they are capable of.
